Broadband Uk- Lightning Fast Internet !

The traditional dial-up connection required a telephone line and a modem(Modulator Demodulator) to connect to the Internet. One drawback of such a method is the slow speed it offers, typically around 56Kbps. With modern day websites housing rich multimedia content, it takes minutes for a web page to open at the client side. The other drawback is that during an Internet session the telephone cannot be used. Although a caller ID can be used to know the calling number, one might have to answer the call if it is an important one, thereby ending the Internet session.

Broadband has come as a breath of fresh air for those who crave for fast Internet speed. The same high-end websites can now be opened in seconds. Secondly, the telephone line is now available irrespective of the fact whether one is browsing or not. It also provides almost double the data rate as compared to a dial-up connection. Double data rates mean double data travel speed and hence faster downloading.

There are many ways of connecting to the Internet via this technique. One way is to use a standard ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) modem. This is one of the cheapest ways of Internet connection. The main difference between ADSL and DSL modems is that ADSL provides different upload and download speeds. Hence, the name asymmetric digital subscriber line. Another way is to use a cable modem. The cable modem is in turn connected to the TV/cable box. Both methods provide a fast connection speed.

An individual must do a little research about the service provider before striking a deal. The speed they offer and customer service are just a few things that one must keep in mind. Also, one must decide which type of user he/she is. If an individual uses the Internet for sending, receiving Emails and visiting websites, he/she can be classified as a light user. Whereas, one who uses the Internet for downloading high-end softwares and games, and streaming videos can be called a heavy user. Deciding which category one falls into can go a long way in ensuring an affordable yet enjoyable browsing experience.

Some of the big broadband players in the UK like BT, PlusNet, O2 broadband, Orange, BE and Virgin Media provide easy-to-avail and profitable deals to lure users. Among these, BT broadband is the largest ISP in the UK that boasts of over 4.6 million users. All these companies have dedicated websites that furnish all information that one needs. However, if this does not in deciding, then one can always consult the numerous comparison sites. One has to select the parameters and the comparison website does the rest. A list of the deals offered by ISPs open up. The user can choose the deal that suits him/her best.

Although BT claims that broadband is present in 99 percent of UK, some areas still continue to languish with dial-up connections.
