Broadband Is Taking Over

More users are using broadband to connect to the Internet than ever before. More than sixty percent of households that connect to the Internet do so with a broadband connection and that percent is steadily increasing at a very high rate. It is even more impressive that over ninety percent of every single ad that is displayed on the Internet is shown to users who are using broadband connections. This information is extremely useful to all Internet advertisers and it is very important that they are informed of it. There is almost no reason at all for them to target non-broadband users with their ads anymore because chances are, those users will never see their ads. Even if those users see their ads, the percentage of people that are not using broadband who respond to advertisements on the web is almost zero and literally has no effect on the online advertising world.

This needs to be said just one more time in case you somehow missed it. More than ninety percent of all advertisements displayed on the Internet are shown to users who are using a broadband connection.

This fact may still seem unreal to many people and it is understandable if you are a bit skeptical about the fact that the number of ad impressions shown to broadband users is really more than nine times the number shown to non-broadband users. Think of it like this. Think of all the people who use computers for their work. Companies own millions and millions of computers that are used daily by hundreds of millions of people all over the world. Companies and businesses are not going to use slow connections for their workers and expect for work to get done. That is why they use broadband connections and that is why during work hours, the number of ad impressions made on broadband connections is at its highest.

To even further prove this point, think of how many hours per day that you and or people you know who have broadband connections spend on the Internet. Now think of how many hours per day you would spend on the Internet if you did not have a broadband connection. The difference between the amount of time that you would spend on the Internet without a broadband connection is far less than the amount of time that you would spend on the Internet if you had a broadband connection. This means that users with broadband connections are on the Internet far more than users without a broadband connection which adds up to years worth of hours per day combined by all broadband users in time that they have to see advertisements on the web.

For some reason, advertisers do not understand this information. They should be showing at least ninety percent of their ads to only broadband users. It is even understandable if they wanted to make sure that all of their ads were only seen by broadband users. Nearly one third of their ads are still set up to be shown to non-broadband users and that is a waste of their time, money, and advertisements.

The smartest thing for advertisers to do would be to create rich media ads that are specifically for their broadband viewers and then create standard media ads that are specifically for their non-broadband viewers. This would ensure that everyone would see their ads and that they would not waste money on ads that were not appearing on the screens of certain users due to their connection. The main problem with this is that rich media ads have become so popular and standard media ads are being used less and less every day. No advertiser wants to spend time creating standard media or simple text ads when they can design rich media ads with videos, that are interactive, and with many other high tech features.

One unique thing that advertisers can do is to expand their use of flash on all of their ads. Flash allows for so many features and different types of media to be displayed on advertisements. While around ninety percent of ads are shown to broadband users, more than ninety percent of Internet users have flash on their computer. That means that the more flash that is used, the more people your ads will reach. This will further help eliminate wasted time and money being spent on advertisements that are not being seen to their fullest potential.

Bandwidth does not limit advertisements like it used to. It is far more capable of containing and displaying large advertisements without affecting the performance of a website or webpage.

You can try out many combinations of displaying your ads. You can display rich media ads next to simple ads or even rotate which one gets displayed. You will be able to see and evaluate the performances of your ads and determine what combinations of ads work best.

This information will help you maximize your return of investment when advertising on the Internet and should be used on all Internet advertising campaigns.
