Buckle Up

Parents treasure their little gifts and do everything they can to protect them from harm. Traveling by vehicle should be no different.

It seems that many parents who will grab their child's hand and pull them into the house when a stranger comes knocking at the door will allow these same bundles of joy to walk around in the back of a large vehicle, or sit forward in the back seat of a car. These same parents can be seen holding their little ones in their laps while daddy is driving down the freeway.

Law and science have come together to provide safety rules and equipment that are created to enhance the security and ensure more probable safety of a child or baby while going down the road. There are car seats and booster seats available that will ensure the tiny body does not slip through the seat belt that was created for an adult passenger.

Car safety seats are not only a suggestion but they are a requirement. Different states have various requirements but they all require the seats. In Texas, for example, it is required that a child sit in an approved booster seat until they are at least 57 inches tall. Affordability is not an option, either. The most precious object of affection is a child and they deserve the very best protection. There are non-profit organizations, the fire department and police stations that may be able to help a less fortunate family with the acquisition of the proper car seat for their child, and they will also instruct the parents on the proper method to connect it to the seat belt in the car or truck.

Another concern with the child safety seat is proper installation. Most new infant and baby car seats are created with additional connectivity besides just the seat belt. They have a strap on the top that connects to a hook on the body of the car, and automobiles have also been modified to accommodate this additional feature to ensure quality construction and the best security.

Parents love their children and protect them as much as they can. Ignorance is a dangerous beast when it comes to the well-being of our littlest humans. We must do our best by ensuring safety.
