Building Profit With Point Of Sale Marketing
All this work could be for nothing if you don’t continue the advertising within your store. Your brand should ring out within the store; the colors that the customer saw on your TV advertisements should be well represented, as well as the slogans and values you have worked hard to portray. It may seem that most of the work has been done, as the customer has come into the store, but you still need to seal the deal and get the customer to spend as much as possible. Posters and banners around the store will catch the customer’s eye, and remind them of the type of product and service they can expect from you and your staff. These can subtly guide people to regions of the store you want to bring them to, and point of sale marketing should be there, designed to get them to pick up the item. Depending on the type of product you sell, this can be an opportune time to highlight a two for the price of one offer, or even better – three for the price of two. The customer is finally in buy mode, and it is your in-store advertising’s job to capitalize on this. Getting the customer to buy slightly more than he had initially planned to buy can make a huge difference to the profits your business makes each month. Perhaps the best place to try and get a few more pounds or pennies from your customers is at the checkout or sales desk. No-one likes a pushy salesperson, but commonly a line can form when people are waiting to pay and this can get their mind wandering to the items you have tastefully displayed. Someone may be coming to your sales desk to order a relatively cheap product or service; but if you highlight well the benefits of stumping for a slightly more expensive option as part of your point of sale marketing, then they very well may change their mind a spend a little more at the last minute.
