Whenever you hear people talking about confidence, success is mentioned as well. To be a success you need confidence. Universally this is agreed upon. But, you ask yourself, what exactly is confidence?
Confidence is all about knowing who you are, what you want to do and why you are here. Deep down, confidence is about self-trust. When you trust other people and can depend on them, you have confidence in them. It is the same for you. If you trust your ideas and abilities, then you have confidence.
Why can it sometimes be difficult to be confident?
You might be one of those people who thinks being confident means being boorish or outspoken. The reverse is true because the louder and more boorish someone is they are much more likely to be less confident.
People who are most confident are the ones who are happy with themselves and their lives. They are people who cheerfully go about their lives with their own ideas and designs.
Sometimes we are mistaken in the belief that we feel uncertain or negative about ourselves because of something that occurred when we were children. We go through our lives blaming the way we were treated by our families or other people in our lives. Unfortunately this can leave us helpless to try and change these beliefs we have harboured for years.
As we have just discovered this is a mistaken belief. We have fallen into a bad habit of thinking of ourselves in a negative manner and so end up feeling bad about ourselves a lot of the time. What it all comes down to is we are thinking moment by moment. So because we can choose to change our thoughts, it actually means we can we have the power to change our lives right this minute.
• One thing to remember is our negative thoughts are not reality. They are just thoughts.
• Stop being negative and harsh to ourselves. When we start to feel negative feelings we are thinking in negative, unproductive ways.
• You might not realise this but you can choose your own thoughts. If you want to feel more confident in your life start to develop an awareness of negative thought patterns and make a conscious effort to replace them with something more positive.
