Every kid wants bunk beds, but most of their requests are rejected on the simple basis that they have no one to share the other bed with; what’s the use in all that wasted space? When it comes to twins, however, the double bed set can really look like a good idea, and it can give your kids a more private feeling when they go to bed than side-by-side beds in the same room.

Oddly, some parents don’t stop to measure the height of their child’s room before buying a bed set, and this can lead to some awkward bedtimes! Always remember, before you start shopping around, to measure the room the beds will be going into. You can base your investigations on these measurements and be sure that the twin on the top bunk won’t be hitting her head on the ceiling every morning.

The second thing to remember about bunk beds is stability. Many beds are built more to fit a budget than to hold up your children, so don’t immediately commit to buying the cheaper option. Do some homework, look into product reviews to make sure the bed will stay steady on its feet for a good few years – what looks strong in the store might not make the same impression two years down the road, after coping with two energetic kids.

Once you’ve decided on a design for your bunk beds, you’ll need to install them at home. This can be a challenge! If you aren’t comfortable constructing beds from what looks like a mass of unrelated planks, tubes and screws, then don’t hesitate to call a professional in. It’s always best to get the job done as well as it possible can be done, just to make sure that your kids are safe at night. They’ll love the product of your efforts!
