Trucks have better safety records, this is well known amongst truck owners, the fact is that because the vehicle is taller in height you have a better viable range, you also tend to have more airbags and space within the car. Also consider that there is a better wheel base, better weight meaning better gravity and essentially will be more likely to stick to the road.
