Buying A Home Or Condo In Breckenridge
Breckenridge winters are spectacular – not too cold (averaging around 28 degrees Farenheit), with an average of about 300 inches of snow that make the area perfect for skiing and other snow activities. Summer is even better with an average of 70 degrees Farenheit during the day and around 50 degrees at night. Ask any Breckenridge local why they love it here and they'll tell you: "I came for the winter and stayed for the summer." If you've stayed here for a while – even briefly – you'll understand exactly why. Spring and summer in Breckenridge will be far from boring with the multitude of activities in store for the new home investor. There is fishing, hiking, canoeing, biking, and golfing on the town's 27-hole golf course, the only one in the world designed by the great Jack Nicklaus himself. Then there's the Breckenridge Music Festival and numerous other festivals which run year round. You'll also find shopping aplenty with over 200 shops, boutiques and grocery stores, close to 100 restaurants and bars, and close to 250 historic district structures, many of them dating back to the Victorian era. Add to this the breathtaking scenery that emerges after the snow washes away, and you're in nature nirvana. Here are some things to consider when you're planning on buying a home or condo in Breckenridge: • The best time to buy a home or condo is in the spring and summer. With no snow on the ground, you'll be able to see the real condition and features of the house you're considering – the landscaping, driveway, garden area, roofing, etc. • Think about what kind of activities you want to be able to do in your Breckenridge home. Will you be doing a lot of entertaining and would therefore need more rooms? Are you into gardening? Do you like cookouts and being able to hold parties and barbeques outside? • Consider where you want your home located. Do you want to be in the heart of downtown where most of the activities are, or would you rather be as close to nature as possible? • Consider how much garden space you are looking for and how much maintenance you are willing to do. Condos usually have a minimal landscaped space, while a freestanding house will allow you to have a bigger garden, with the accompanying necessary maintenance (landscaping, lawn mowing, etc.). • Think of your budget. How much can you spend on mortgage and how long do you want to continue paying for the house? • Think of the timeframe you want before moving in. Do you want a house that is brand new and ready to move into, or would you rather go for a cheaper one that you'll spend time on fixing up? Whether you buy a brand new or a less expensive home, it'll be to your advantage to purchase now before prices go up even further.
