California is one of the states of the U.S. located on the West Coast of the United States along with the Pacific Ocean. California is known as the most popular state of the U.S. also known as the fourth largest city of Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco. It is a state also known for its unique climate and geography.
California changed dramatically with a large people influx and an economic boom because of the California Gold Rush. Los Angeles, California, became the center of entertainment industry on the early 20th century in addition to the non-stop growth of a large tourism sector in the state. California has several industries which are very prosperous such as:
- agricultural industry
- aerospace industry
- petroleum industry
- computer and information technology.
California is also ranked in the top ten largest economies in the world and if California were to be a separate country, it would be in the 35th place among the most popular countries in the world. Major metropolitan areas are found along the California coast, including Greater Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay Area, and San Diego. Due to a number of faults, specially the San Andreas Fault, as a result earthquakes, another reason why California is famous also making it vulnerable to tsunamis, floods, droughts, Santa Ana winds, wildfires, and landslides on steep terrain, and has several volcanoes.
Approximately 70% of California's population lives in its three largest metropolitan areas:
1. Greater Los Angeles
2. San Francisco Bay Area
3. Riverside San Bernardino Area also known as the Inland Empire.
California is home to the largest county in the contiguous United States by area, San Bernardino County.
