Campers For Sale From Fema - What You Need To Know To Pick Up The Bargain Of The Year

The Federal Emergency Management Agency, commonly known as FEMA, is trying to get rid of their inventory of campers and mobile homes. If you are currently in the market for such a unit, FEMA's campers for sale are one of your best bets for snagging a terrific deal.

These trailers were used in 2005 during Hurricane Katrina and while not all of them are inhabitable, there are thousands available that are. The best part about these trailers is that they are selling for only about 40 cents on the dollar!

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

There are some of these trailers that are only good for scrap. Some are repairable. Others are in fantastic condition.

Key Points to Consider

* Price: At an average price of $7367 and valued at $18,620 per the Washington Post, these campers are available at a big discount. In the past, the price may not have been enough to get people to buy. That's because of the shape they were in.
* Shape: Between July 24, 2006 and July 23, 2007, most trailers were sold as scrap. These trailers were not in livable condition. Most of the scrap trailers have been sold off and new sales are for "repairable" campers. Don't let the name scare you off. Some need up to $1500 repair to make them road worthy. Others are in near new condition, and hardly used.
* Availability: FEMA lists an excess inventory of over 120,000 units. It's their belief that it will take the next three years to get rid of all their excess. To get them, you'll need to get to an airfield in Hope Kansas or pay someone to haul or ship them to you. Of course, you need to do whatever repairs are necessary to get them on the road as well.

Why Purchase One Now?

The scrap campers and trailers are gone for the most part. The units coming on the market now are repairable. And some are in quite good condition.

Many of these units are going for a fraction of what you might expect, including some for as little as $100 for an opening bid. If this peaks your interest, it's time to start seriously looking at the FEMA campers for sale at government auction sites to get your hands on this kind of deal.
