Camping is an outdoor recreational activity. The participants, known as campers, get away from urban areas, their home region and enjoy nature while spending one or more nights, usually at a campsite. Camping may involve the use of a tent, a primitive structure, or no shelter at all. Campers frequent national parks, other publicly owned natural areas, and privately owned campgrounds. Camping is often done with activities, such as hiking, climbing, mountain biking, fishing and many more. Some people vacation in permanent camps with cabins and other facilities while others do temporarily while camping. Some people choose to camp closer to their car with a tent have access to portable hot water, tent interior lighting and other camping gadgets that are constantly being invented and re-invented.

While planning for holiday camping, very little equipment should be carried, such as first aid kit and sunscreen in order to prevent luggage being too heavy. If camping is done on privately campgrounds then few additional equipment is needed like a folding chair to be used around a campfire, sleeping bags or blankets for warmth, a tent to act as shelter, a raincoat, ropes for use as a clothes line, personal care products, a hammer to drive tent stakes into soil, hiking boots, and beverages.

Many campers enjoy socializing with a small group of fellow campers. There are around 10,000 sites over the 21 regions of France so you won't be stuck for choice. Whether you're looking for a campsite with direct access to the beach, by a lake or river, with a swimming pool, restaurant or kids club there is a campsite to satisfy all needs and locations.
