Candle making is a fine art. It was considered an essential task, but today it is more a hobby than anything. Nevertheless it is essential for any candle maker to have his tools, to ensure that his candles are perfect. For anyone wanting to make a successful business out of candle making, tools are indispensable.

The most important equipment is a double boiler. A double boiler consists of two containers, one smaller and the other larger. The smaller one sits inside the larger one, which is placed on the heat source. The smaller one holds the wax, while the larger one is filled with water. This setup gives a more regulated heat transfer to the wax.

A thermometer is an essentiality. Perfect candles are a result of perfect heating of the wax. If the wax is under heated, then the candle cools rapidly and cracks. If it is overheated, then you run the risk of burning the wax, which makes it useless and also risk a fire and injury. Hence you must use a thermometer to monitor the temperature consistently when melting the wax.

The molds are other important candle making equipment. When it comes to molds, you are spoiled for choice. There are molds of different shapes and sizes, made of different material. Your choice of the mold depends on your skill, the size/shape of the candle you want to make and also on the cost. When you are starting out, do not spend a lot on molds. Just get a couple of them, preferably made from aluminum. You can use these till you get a hold of candle making.

Apart these, you would need screw drivers, wick clips, a burner or stove, funnel, volume and weight measuring devices. It is fun but it can also be a lucrative work from home business. If you want people to like what you do, you got to have the tools.
