Another gorgeous town in Alberta, located in the Bow Valley with a permanent population is Canmore. Canmore is located on the east side of the world-famous Banff National Park. Canmore town lies where the Bow River passes trough and that is why the place was named Bow Valley. Because of the Three Sisters its mountain setting is noted. Canmore has a mild climate compared to most Canadian regions. Canmore's coldest day would be in January, with a very low humidity making it feel warmer than the thermometer indicates. What about summers? they are short and cool, winters are long but mostly sunny and dry.
Canmore became one of the best recreational tourist destination when a few years ago the future of Canmore's economic didn't looked so well until an announcement was made in the early 80's that Calgary, Alberta would be hosting the Winter Olympics in 1988 and Canmore City would play host for the Nordic events. As a result, tourism increased and Canmore began developing into the recreational tourist destination it has become today. The Canmore Hotel has over 100 years sitting on the main street. The hotel structure has changed very little and is one of the most distinguishable landmarks in Canmore.
Within an hour by foot most of Canmore can be traversed. The center of Canmore's town surrounds 8th Street or as it is known colloquially "Main Street", which was a residential road originally showing off some of the oldest architecture in town. Recent development is mostly taking place in the town center also the Three Sisters, Mountain Village and Silver Tip Resort. A particularly stretch of real estate would be the 6th street. Residents love and enjoy the local shops proximity, bars, restaurants and gorgeous views of the Three Sisters and the Rundle range. Canmore's economy has been influenced in terms of industry and tourism because of its location which is ideally situated on many major transportation routes
