Care For Nails After You Stop Nail Biting

When you stop nail biting you want to let your nails grow out so they are strong and healthy. It's going to take a little time and effort to grow your nails out so they are strong and healthy.

As you grow your nails out, keep them short to decrease breaking and peeling. It's tempting to grow super long nails but allow your nails to gain some strength.

From base to tip it takes about 4 months for a nail to grow, so give your nails at least 4 months to go from a bitten and nibbled stage to stronger healthier nails.

When filing your nails, choose a fine grit emery board avoiding metal files. Metal files can easily tear fragile nails that are just growing out. Make sure you have dry nails and file only in one direction. This avoids splits in your nails.

Keep your nails in a simple oval shape with no points. Keep the oval wide at the base and gradually shaping it into a gentle curve. Shaping your nails this way makes your nails less apt to breaking and splitting.

Nail polish is can prevent your nails from breaking or peeling. If you use colored polish, apply a clear base coat before the colored coat. This avoids staining from the colored polish.

You minimize chipping your nail polish by applying a clear topcoat. Apply a topcoat of nail strengthener to your nail tips to act as a protective shield.

The manicured nails and well-groomed hands can show the world you changed your nail biting habit. Congratulations!
