Celebrity News: Love Is In The Air For 2011

It seems that there has been no end of romantic celebrity news doing the rounds in the last few weeks as it has emerged that some new relationships have flourished over the festive period while others have moved to the next level of love.

One of the hottest stories of the last month has been that James Bond actor Daniel Craig has been linked to Oscar-winning British actress Rachel Weisz after the couple were spotted walking hand in hand over the Christmas period in a small Somerset town. Previously, Weisz had been involved with director Darren Aronofsky, who himself is favoured to receive an Academy Award this year for The Black Swan. However, she revealed recently that their nine-year relationship had come to an end. Craig has been a friend of the actress since they worked together in 2004 on a movie called Dream House, but it seems the two are now much closer.

Another new couple that were spotted holding hands in recent weeks was Manchester City defender Wayne Bridge and Saturdays star Frankie Sandford. Bridge is used to being in the headlines for all the wrong reasons after it was revealed that his ex-girlfriend Vanessa Perroncel allegedly had an affair with his England team mate. However, reports suggest that he could have well left all of that in the past having hooked up with one fifth of Britain’s hottest girl band.

Of course, while all of this is pure celebrity gossip, there are some stars that went one step further in making their relationships official over Christmas. Former Doctor Who David Tennant was just one who popped the question recently, asking his actress girlfriend Georgia Moffett to marry him. While the pair have known each other since 2008 when they met on the set of the popular sci-fi series, one of the most interesting pieces of trivia is perhaps that Moffett’s father is in fact a former time travelling Doctor himself - 80s TV star Peter Davison.

Elsewhere, former Girls Aloud wild child Sarah Harding appears to be settling down after it was reported that she is to tie the know with her DJ boyfriend Tom Crane. Apparently, he made his proposal on New Year's Eve in a romantic spot in the Maldives where the pair had gone to spend some end of year quality time with one another.

So, whether it is rumours, gossip, paparazzi snaps, engagements or public displays of affection, it seems 2011 has gotten off to a very romantic start for the stars – and to think, Valentine’s day is still over a month away!
