Cell Phones Can Be A Huge Help For College Students

If you’re a college student, you already know how important your cell phone is to you. It’s your lifeline to family and friends, particularly if you have gone away to go to school. Your cell phone can do much more than help you keep in touch with those who are important to you though – there are other features which can help you get by while in school.

Many college students receive money from their parents from time to time – did you know that this can all be handled through your text messaging services? It can all be done using a PayPal account (your parents will need to set this up). You can have your parents send you money via PayPal, then immediately transfer these funds to your college bookstore or bursar’s office!

We all get stranded sometimes. For instance, you may lock your keys in your car while in the middle of nowhere. Many cell phones can actually transmit your remote key signal. It’s actually very easy – just call the person who has your spare keys (you do have spare keys, don’t you?) You will, however have to call them on a different phone. You tell the person with your keys to press the unlock button on your spare right into their phone. You then hold your phone within a foot of the car door while they do this – and the signal will transmit through your phone and unlock your car door! However, this doesn’t work on every model of phone – try it out before you rely too much on this plan.

Your cell phone can also be used to get you detailed directions, no matter where you are or where you are going. Google Mobile Web can even give you satellite images along with maps and directions. If you get lost, Google Mobile Web can get you home.

Your cell phone can even help you study! You can use the reminder and alarm features to remind you to get to that study group or that important meeting with your adviser or professor. You can set your reminder calendar up to months ahead of time, so you can put in that big exam or term paper as soon as you find out about them.

Three way calling is included with most cell phones; this can be handy in coordinating group projects, even working together over the phone! To make a three way call, just call one person then dial the second person’s number once you have the first on the phone and press send. The second party can then pick up the phone while the first is on hold. When you have the second person on the line, just press send again and you can all talk to each other at the same time as if you were sitting together.

These are just a few of the features of your cell phone which can be helpful to you as a college student. To learn more, read your manual – you may be surprised at all of the things your phone can do for you!
