Characteristics Of A Black Labrador Puppy

Out of all of the different colors of Labradors, the black Labrador is the most accepted. Black Labradors are as a rule solid black in color. Although, some black Labradors have a white spot on the chest or they might have white hairs between the footpads and toes. They are attractive and sleek looking animals. Since they have so much zest for life and they want to fool around with everyone they must be taken seriously because they can hurt little kids or delicate individuals once they are full grown, but usually by accident!

Black Labradors are very smart, even as pups and they can be trained very quickly. They can be taught pretty easily not to jump up on people. Dogs can vary not just in their looks but in their disposition and their energy level. This is significant to be conscious of when getting a big dog such as the black Labrador. High energy dogs are frequently very pleasant to the person that likes a lot of outdoor activity, however this kind of dog might not be as good of an option for the individual that works all day or lives in an apartment building. This does not mean that the Black Labrador would not make a good pet, but it is not healthy for the dog to be closed up all day and it could result in destructive behavior basically because the dog would be bored.

For those that are interested in buying a Black Lab puppy you must take into consideration that it will not be that long before the pup grows to full size so space must be considered. For the family that has space for a large dog, a black Labrador puppy would be a good choice because they make good watch dogs yet are kind and loving with people that they know.

There are more black Labradors than either yellow Labradors or chocolate Labradors. Also, breeders prefer black Labradors because black is the dominant color gene. Black Labradors are more common than either yellow Labradors or chocolate Labradors. This is for the reason that if a black Labrador is carrying two dominant black genes and it is crossed with a yellow dog or a chocolate dog, then the dominant black gene will overpower the other genes.

All dogs are social creatures, but few are as social as a black Labrador puppy. A black Labrador puppy loves attention, and wants to get it from everyone and everything. A black Labrador puppy does not want to share, however, and must learn that he has to. Your black Labrador puppy needs to be petted and caressed. Most people do this automatically from the time they get the puppy. Children, especially, touch the puppy in every possible place they can. The more children there are the more your black Labrador puppy will likely get petted. Get your black Labrador puppy accustomed to being touched and patted. It will help him fit into his new life.
