Cheap Flights To Bangkok: A Brief Introduction To The City Of Angels
The Grand Palace is a must see attraction that was built in 1782, and was subsequently home to the Thai Royal family for 150 years. The Grand Palace is also home to the Emerald Buddha, the most sacred Buddha image in Thailand. Some choose to merely view the outside of the Grand Palace while journeying along the Chao Phraya River. If you are venturing on to the water, the famous Floating Market is an eye opener that allows a glimpse of Thai village life, and is one of the most popular tourist attractions to be found just outside Bangkok. Back in the city on dry land, the National Museum is within walking distance of the Grand Palace, and is an impressive building in itself ? it was once used as a palace. The National Museum is one of the largest in Southeast Asia and has artefacts ranging back through history to the Neolithic age. The work of Thai artists old and new can be seen in the National Gallery Museum just across the road, ranging in style from traditional to contemporary art, and charges a modest entrance fee. Neighbour of the Grand Palace is the Wat Pho temple, which features a gigantic gold plated statue of the reclining Buddha, a popular pose and depiction of the God. The reclining Buddha in the Wat Pho is a massive 46 metres long and 15 metres high, and a sight you should not miss. There are quite a few companies who specialise in hiring bikes out on which to explore Bangkok, and while the first impressions of the chaotic traffic may deter many, bicycles are an integral part of life for Thai people, and a great way to see the city ? there are many dedicated cycle paths. Many offer guided tours, which are recommended as a safer option than braving the traffic alone. The food of Thailand and Bangkok has to be one of the standout features of any visit; Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com HILDEGARD SULLIVANT is a retired travel agent and part time travel writer who admits an addiction to Thai culture.
