Cheating Spouses: The Aftermath

There are several reasons for these failed relationships with one of the more frequent reasons being cheating spouses. In the past, partners would get bored after only seven years of marriage, and this would lead to an affair. Now this duration is even shorter, with spouses becoming bored after only three short years of marriage. With so many affairs taking place, it is no wonder the divorce rate is increasing.

Some reasons for cheating spouses include boredom and lack of affection. After several years of marriage, the relationship can become monotonous and it can become easy to forget to pay attention to your spouse. Men and women both cheat, but often for opposite reasons.

Men like the idea of someone new. They become bored easily and the thought of chasing someone new excites them. Men do not equate sex with love. While they might love their spouse, sex is just an act for them and therefore they do not feel that sex with a stranger is a violation of their love for their spouse. They often claim that it is just fulfilling a need, and they are not looking to replace their spouse, only to have the excitement of sex with someone new. Men have a high sex drive, and women tend to not be able to keep up with this need.

Women need to feel an emotional attachment, and often when they commit adultery it is because they have lost this emotional connection with their spouse. They look for affection and attention from someone who is willing to give it to them. Husbands have a tendency to forget that wives need to attention, and this leaves the wife feeling unloved and unappreciated. Another reason women cheat is to escape a busy home life where they tend to the needs of their family, but not their own. An affair is a way of tending to their own needs.

Cheating spouses always give signs that they are having an affair. These signs include unaccounted for missing money or unexplained credit card expenses. Other signs are less sex, indifference to family events, longer hours away from home, and secret phone calls.

Affairs often lead to lack of trust at best, and divorce at worst. Couples who remain in a relationship after an affair sometimes argue frequently, and suspicion and mistrust remain. Affairs do not have to occur. Couples can make the relationship a priority. Spending time with each other and keeping the sex adventurous is important to keeping a lasting faithful relationship.

It is better to communicate your needs with your partner because an affair is devastating for a family and can leave emotional scars. The fact is that cheating spouses can break up a relationship.
