Check Out Neighboring Galaxies Through A High Magnification Telescope

Professionals as well as hobbyists think of our galaxy as fascinating and incredible. The only way to witness all of this is to view it through a telescope. This device is the only type that has enough magnification to allow human beings to see these things. Some of these things are so far away that they are not measured in distance but in light years, or number of years it takes for light from that object to hit the earth.

The telescope, by design, filter in light through a tube and brings it to focus to make it efficient for further magnifying. Therefore, since there are different ways of doing this, there are kinds of telescopes that produce images in various ways. The three forms of telescopes are:

* Refractor – A refractor type is a long tube-style telescope that contains a large lens at the tip, known as an objective lens. This type of telescope uses a couple of lenses to bend the light as it comes into the telescope where it can be viewed by the eyepiece. The objective lens on the end can be built of two or more lenses put together in just the right way to make the magnification effective. These telescopes are simple to keep up with and are quite reliable for seeing a host of different things in space. The refractor though has its limitations; one cannot view distant galaxies because the refractor is limited in ability. And, the refractor type telescopes are typically more expensive than the others.

* Newtonian Reflector – This type of telescope is completely different than the previously mentioned type, in that Newtonian reflectors receive light into the lens, send it to an opposite side mirror and then magnify the light before sending it to the viewing piece. This kind is much more capable than the other types and can make it possible to see other galaxies. But, this kind needs a lot of maintenance and regular realignment and adjustments. This telescope, however, is a bit less expensive than refractors or Catadioptric telescopes.

* Catadioptric – This type of telescope uses an arrangement of mirrors and lenses to bend and change rays of light into a primary mirror and then back to the eye. The catadioptric telescope is the strongest of its kind. These can magnify almost anything one can conceive of. They are perfect for scoping galaxies, constellations, and are magnifying enough for terrestrial viewing and photography. Catadioptric telescopes can cost a lot and look very different than Newtonian reflectors and refractors.

This instrument stands to be an incredible piece of technology that lets people see things in outer space. For centuries, people have been fascinated with space and all the amazing components within. Telescopes make it possible for us to look up at the sky and imagine what it is like light years into the sky.
