Check Out The New Durango Fuel Economy

The 2010 Dodge Durango offers a variety of different engine options which determine the fuel economy of each vehicle. The base engine offered in the Durango is a 3.7 liter six cylinder which produces two hundred ten horsepower. The base engine can only be ordered in the two wheel drive version of the Durango.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency rates the 3.7 liter unit at fourteen miles per gallon in city driving, and twenty miles per gallon in highway driving. An optional engine on the Durango is a 4.7 liter eight cylinder engine that produces three hundred and three horsepower when using premium unleaded gasoline. This engine can also run on the E85 ethanol/gasoline fuel mixture, but the engine's horsepower and fuel economy will be lessened when running on this mixture. The 4.7 liter eight cylinder engine can be ordered on a Durango with either a two wheel drive or four wheel drive system. The 4.7 liter with two wheel drive returns fourteen miles per gallon in the city and twenty miles per gallon on the highway. With the four wheel drive system, the 4.7 liter eight cylinder is rated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency at thirteen miles per gallon on the city circuit and eighteen miles per gallon on the highway circuit. The last engine option on the Durango is a 5.7 liter gas-electric hybrid. The Hybrid engine utilizes an electric motor at lower speeds, and then switches to the gasoline engine to attain higher speeds. The hybrid gas-electric engine returns twenty miles per gallon in city driving, and twenty-two miles per gallon on the highway.
