Children's Furniture For The Kitchen
The most important quality is sturdiness. Most children are prone to heavy wear on furniture, and one certainly does not want one's child dumped on the ground in the event that the piece of furniture fails, such as a leg breaking or the back cracking off. Look for thick legs, a thick back, secure joints that do not wiggle when shaken, and sturdy materials - brittle glass, for example, is not a good choice. The second most important quality is style. Only some styles are well-suited to young children. For example, rococo or baroque styles and Queen Anne chairs may contain protrusions that young children might injure themselves on. However, if the rest of the house is decorated in an ornate fashion, a compatible style might be found in relief carved wood, molded plastic, or stamped metal. However, simple styles are far easier to clean than ornate ones, which is a concern around children. Fabric-covered furniture is not recommended in the kitchen unless it is easily recovered and the owner is willing to do so, because although the soft padding would seem like a good choice for children to avoid the possibility of injury, it is difficult to clean and forms a good host for bacterial and mold growth. If padding is desired, soft pillows may be tied to the furniture. A third important quality is color. Obviously, a piece of furniture that matches the rest of the house is preferable, but certain colors- white and cream, for example, may cause difficulties in the kitchen because they are easily stained. Darker colors or a mix of colors are more likely to hide stains and look fresh for longer. The fourth quality to consider is sizing. It may be a good idea to buy furniture that is slightly larger than the size of the child in question so that the piece of furniture may be used for a longer length of time. Using these tips will lead to the selection of the best piece of children's furniture to suit the home it belongs to.
