Choosing Your Wedding Photographer!

It can be a daunting business choosing a Wedding Photographer. How do you get the best photographer, one you can trust? You have heard the sales patter, but can they really deliver? Are they really any good?

Choosing your Wedding Photographer could be the worst mistake you ever made! Let me explain why!

My good friend Steve and myself have been in the Wedding Photography Industry for a total of 40 years. Steve as a videographer and photographer and me as a Wedding and Portrait Photographer.

We have witnessed a disturbing trend that has evolved in the last few years and hundreds of happy couples have fallen victim to fake photographers who have left a trail of broken hearts with often devastating results.

So we are going to help you understand how they can con you, why they do it and how you can apply a few simple steps to ensure your big day is not ruined. forever. If it goes wrong you can't go back and do it again can you?
Any one who owns a digital camera is now a 'Professional Photographer'
an explosion in recent years in digital technology, resulting in good quality, high resolution cameras made affordable to the public. It's not surprising then that there has also been a massive growth in 'professional' Wedding Photographer's offering their services to the unsuspecting public.

Do you connect the two? Yes everyone now thinks they are a wedding photographer! We have seen countless examples of people setting up as professional wedding photographers just because they can use a digital camera. (Usually they are full time workers who do it for a bit of extra cash on the weekends.) Hence their prices are remarkably cheaper than the competition. (But not always.)

Well they may be able to provide nice snapshots in an non pressure environment but what about when it really matters?

My friend is doing the Wedding Photos for me!
Well they may be able to provide nice snapshots in an non pressure environment but what about when it really matters?
when the sun is behind the bride and groom therefore confusing the camera's auto exposure settings. What does he do now? Does he know his exposure from his aperture?

Should he even shoot with the bride and grooms back to the sun?

There are lots of complex camera equations that come into play during a wedding, the white wedding dress causes exposure problems for a start.

Throw in the dark suits of the groom and his best men. Or how about a mixed race couple? How do you compensate for that, will the camera's auto settings be enough?

All of the above will prove to be no problem to a seasoned wedding pro photographer as he knows his camera's inside out. He is more experienced than a point and shoot, (and hope for the best) photographer.

The question is how do you know WHO's WHO?

It's all to easy for a person with a bit of know how to put together a printed portfolio of good quality stock images and pass them off as his own. Or to attend a few weddings and find 20 good shots out of a few hundred images to show you. Also setting a website up with pictures cloned off a site half way round the world is not to hard either.

So who do you want to trust with your very special day? Well I'm sure you'll want to know Who's Who?

We have been in the Business of Wedding Photography for a combined 25 years.
So we know a thing or two about how to provide GREAT WEDDING Photography!
ss of Wedding Photography for a combined 25 years. So we know a thing or two about what makes a good wedding photography and what makes a GREAT WEDDING Album!

Finally and sadly we have also seen some truly horrible photography supplied by so called 'professionals' and for some couples their happy day has been marred by bad photography.

So you have had some warnings of what how some people are trying to pass themselves as experienced photographers when in reality they have assembled a few good snaps together out of hundreds of photos, (with a lot of bad ones, you don't see,) taken at various friends and family weddings.
