Cialis And Impotence

Impotence or, as quite some people refer to it, “erectile dysfunction” (ED) is a health condition characterized by the inability of a man to achieve an erection or to maintain it for a period of time sufficient for a successful sexual intercourse. There are various disorders associated with erectile dysfunction as well as different causes of it – impotence can be triggered by certain illnesses (diabetes, cardiovascular disease, etc.), by impaired blood circulation due to lifestyle problems (lack of necessary physical activity, for example) and even by psychological problems (such as discomfort in a relationship with a certain partner).

In order to understand the real cause of erectile dysfunction in every particular case, you need to understand the whole process of developing an erection better. An erection occurs when sexually excited man’s penile body is filled with blood – there are cavernous bodies inside the penis that can stretch when filled with blood, which makes the penis increase in size and get rigid. When a person is suffering from ED, his penis either doesn’t get filled with blood at all or doesn’t get filled with an amount of blood sufficient for developing a full-fledged erection. There are also cases when the blood simply doesn’t stay in the patient’s penile body for a period of time long enough for the completion of a sexual intercourse.

The range of treatments of impotence is as wide as the range of its causes. In some cases certain physical exercise is considered to be the most effective cure – men can significantly enhance their sexual performance simply by sticking to special workout patterns. There are also even more exotic means, such as treatments with various medical devices (vacuum pumps, etc.), alternative therapies and the much feared surgery. However, medication certainly remains the most widespread means of fighting ED.

The mechanism of action of most medications used for treating impotence is more or less the same – they all work by stimulating the blood flow towards the pelvic area, which allows a man to achieve a strong erection through sexual stimulation. It should be noted that stimulation is a must when you are using such meds as sildenafil, tadalafil or vardenafil – without it you will hardly be able to get an erection.

Cialis (tadalafil) is considered to be the best erectile dysfunction treatment by many – mostly due to its extended half-life. The effect of Viagra or Levitra, for instance, wears out in 4-5 hours following the consumption while Cialis stays active for as long as 36 hours. This longer half-life of the medication was the reason why it got nicknamed “The Weekend Pill” – many men pop it right before the weekend to stay ready for whatever sexual opportunity may appear on the way.

People taking Cialis should remember that this medication should not be consumed more often than once a day and that one pill is most usually enough only for one intercourse.
