City Bookie Can't Give Money Away

On April the 8th, bemused commuters, emerging from the bowels of Liverpool Street station, were confronted with three granite coloured statues, each bearing in their hands voucher for £25 worth of oil trades.

There were virtually no takers. When the statues started to move, grown men leapt back in alarm. A few hardly souls snatched vouchers and ran off to cash them in.

Mike Wright, director of BetOnMarkets.com, explained “With the price of oil trading close to record high, we wanted to give City commuters the chance to won enough to fill their tanks many times over. But we found giving away money was a surprisingly difficult task”.

The best performer, in the ten days following the street offer, made 90.3% profit on a bet of £7,119, equivalent to 3,296% per annum.
