Classic Car Storage And Restoration
He had never restored a classic car before, and knew he would not be able to go into much detail doing it. But he wanted to research and be knowledgeable about everything he could before starting on it, as he wanted to do as much of it himself as he could. Ned found that there were many resources available to help him know what to do when restoring a classic car. Of course, many of them were for professionals or written by professionals, but many were also geared toward someone just like him. They were directed at someone like him who knew very little about classic car restoration, but was enthusiastic about it all the same. Ned began by inspecting his own classic car as thoroughly as he knew how. He made an extended list of the things he believed needed to be done with it and repaired or replaced. Due to finances, he knew that he would not be able to rush off and find replacements for every last part of the car that needed repairing. So, he made a second list as well, one that listed what he thought he could afford for each part. This gave him something to go by once he would be ready to actually shop around for the various parts he would need for the classic car. Ned tried to sort through what needed repaired and make a decent estimate of which items or parts could be salvaged and repaired, as opposed to being thrown out and actually replaced. He knew that once he spoke with someone more professional this would have to be revised, but it was a good start. There were some things that Ned knew up front that he wanted for his car. For instance, he knew that he wanted a new and quality paint job for it, and he knew what color he would want it painted as well. Ned realized that many or most of the mechanical parts of the car would have to be replaced completely. Unlike body work, Ned did not trust these types of things to have held up over so many years, and figured automatically into his budget the replacement of most of these items. There were some other things, such as the leather seats that Ned realized with relief could be cleaned thoroughly instead of replaced. They had been in good condition thanks in part to the good quality automobile storage Ned had used, and he was thankful this was not something else to add to his expenses. Although Ned had to take his car to professionals for several things, he ended up doing much of the restoration himself, and enjoyed it thoroughly.
