Classic Motorbikes

The definition of a classic motorbike varies considerably. Some state that a classic motorbike has to be at least 30 years old and be somewhat antique. Others states that a classic motorbike can be any age, as long as it has been involved in some famous race, rode by a world class rider or have a fascinating background to it. Mixing both opinions, take a look at the following classic motorbikes:

1965 Honda Superhawk CB 77
The ’65 Superhawk has an almost-very-famous history behind it. When it was on the production line, the CB 77 had dark blue upholstery and white paintwork, namely the fenders. Originally thought to simply be a good looking bike, the story came to light years later when it was discovered they were originally meant to be in production solely as police bikes. Unfortunately, an agreement was never finalised but it was too late by then. So for all you who own a 1965 CB 77 – you’ve almost got a police bike!

1968 Honda CL 125A
One of the rarest Honda’s around, the 1968 CL 125A was manufactured for around 36 months and came was off the production line the same as the CL 160 and oddly, cost the same amount. As big is always better, not many 125A’s were purchased and therefore not many are around today. If you can get your hands on one however, keep hold of it – a respectable 70MPG and a comfortable ride, you’ll make money on it in the future if you keep it in the great condition it deserves.

1970 Yamaha LT 5 Trailmaster
As rare as the CL 125A, LT5 Trailmaster’s barely ever appear on market. Sturdy and well built, you’ll be pushed to find one that isn’t in good working condition – that is, should one ever come up for sale.

1976 Kawasaki KZ 750
Whilst they may not be rare motorbikes, KZ750’s are definitely worth the investment. A stunningly good looking twin, they have beautiful engraving on the cases and fantastic high quality chrome all over. You’ll be looking at a couple of thousand pounds for a quality one, but the ride is immense – even though it is over 30 years old.

1987 Yamaha DT50
The youngest classic in the list, the 1987 DT50 is one of the most popular classic bikes around. Well built, they are renowned for being comfortable to ride and with a massive 90MPG, perfect for getting around in the city. However, with its six gears and respectable 60MPG at 9000RPMS, it’s just as comfortable on A roads as it is driving around towns.

Whichever classic motorbike you choose, you can guarantee one thing – you’re definitely going to stand out from the crowd. Just make sure you’ve got the correct bike insurance – classic bike insurance is available and recommended, especially for those with bikes at the higher end of the market – and you’ll be ready to enjoy it, getting some looks of amazing awe as you go by.
