Collagen Moisturizer - Does It Actually Work

If you have just purchased a collagen moisturizer, and you are aware of the fact that the level of collagen in the skin is depleting as we age. You might think that you have found the best solution to your aging collagen problem because it sounds and looks like a perfect match. Bad news and good news for you.

Let start with the bad news. Do not get offended if I were to tell you that you are so dead wrong; you are being conned into believing that collagen can penetrate into your skin and find its way to fit into the structural cells of dermis or epidermis. Good news is you can salvage the collagen moisturizer by splitting the into "collagen" and "moisturizer"; collagen's part is not working but hopefully the moisturizer would.

The fact is; there is no scientific evidence stating that collagen can absorb deeply into the layers of skin.

Human has 7 layers of skin and the 2 major layers are namely epidermis and dermis. Epidermis being the outermost layer and dermis is the inner layer. Epidermis is made of series of cells called keratinocytes, which are stacked on top of each other, forming different sub-layers. The keratinocytes develop at the bottom and rise to the top, where they are shed from the surface as dead cells. So this layer is constantly renewing itself, the live cells changing into dead, hard, flattened cells. Epidermis act as protective layer and skin's natural moisture barrier, which holds moisture in your skin and keeps it soft and supple.
Dermis is made of series proteins, collagen and elastin which give the skin its form, shape and elasticity. Forming the skin matrix structure are combination of these collagen and elastin protein molecules which are constantly being renewed. This explain why children's skin bounces back into shape without getting any fine lines. As we age, skin tends to sag and wrinkles begin to form as the collagen and elastin are damaged and not renewed as often.

If the the collagen in collagen moisturizer can penetrate into the skin by passing through epidermis, do you think its protective function in preventing external intrusion will be at risk. Even the collagen can absorb into the skin, how is the collagen protein finding its way to fit into the matrix structure of the skin? Therefore, a logical mind will find it hard to believe that a topical external application of collagen moisturizer will actually work to increase the collagen level in our skin. On the contrary, ingredient like CynergyTK a clinically tested and scientifically proven, which will boost the production of collagen within our body.
Needless to say, collagen moisturizer will appear to be fictional and, on the other hand, collagen produced from within our own body is sure to give you a younger look by reducing fine lines and wrinkles, promoting firmer and radiant skin, and stimulating the re growth of skin cells.
