Common Cause Of Infertility In Women

There are so many women that suddenly get pregnant. Unwed mothers, teen pregnancies, mother’s who already had children and planned not to have any more. It can seem terribly unjust when a woman is trying to have a baby and just can’t seem to get pregnant. The issue can be covered in years of silence and shame. Much hidden heart ache can be behind the eyes of a woman is trying to conceive month after month unsuccessfully. Baby showers and friends rejoicing over second and third children can be painful and also disquieting.


There are many issues that could be hindering conception. Forty percent of the time it is due to sperm issues. The other sixty percent of the time it is related to the woman’s reproductive system. There are many choices available for woman today. Some of the most common reproductive issues include damage from sexually transmitted disease, pelvic inflammatory disease, and eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia.

Sexually transmitted disease can cause sterility. This is one of the reasons that it is so important that we stress to the young people to practice abstinence. The more sexual partners a women experiences the greater the risk of receiving a sexual disease. Pelvic inflammatory Disease can start as a teen. It can include scars in the fallopian tubes that cause difficulty in conception. There is much that can be done medically for woman who have experienced scaring and damage. Early detection is key. PID can also be caused by a sexually transmitted disease so it is important to get checked by a physician to decrease scaring. Signs could be as simple as very uncomfortable pain during menstruation. Many women do not realize that the pain that they are feeling monthly is unusual and dangerous to their reproductive health. A physician can help stop the damage caused by an undetected PID.

Eating disorders can leave a lasting negative affect on a female’s ability to conceive. Years of manipulating weight and starving the body of necessary fat and nutrients can cause the menstruation and ovulation cycles to stop or be erratic. It may take years of healthy eating and proper nutrition to get the female reproductive system on a regular healthy cycle. If you are experiencing difficulty conceiving then achieving restored reproductive health is significant. There is much medical help available. Do not be afraid to share your needs, fears and desires with a doctor that cares and can assist you and your spouse in achieving conception.
