Computer defragmentation; why is it important for a PC? Why does it seem to help a system run faster than before? This article is written to help people understand that importance of defragging their systems so they can get their PC's to last longer.


Does your system have a hard drive? Most likely it does because I do not believe that they have come out with computers without hard drives; then most likely your system needs to be defragged.
Not sure how to tell if your system needs a cleaning; well it is simple; are your noticing it running any slower than it usually does? I personally know how frustrating it can be to deal with a computer that has not been defragged; you feel like throwing it out the window because it is difficult to get anything accomplished.

Defragging your system helps the system reorganize the files on the hard drive which puts them into a more continuous flow and makes it easier for the system to work.
After you perfrom your computer fragmentation you should notice a 150% increase in the way that your system runs. If you do not then you may want to ensure that it is not time to clean up the registry.

You do not have to know what is necessary to complete this process; all you have to do is follow the instructions; and then give the system the required time to finish the whole process. Depending on how long it has been since you have cleaned up your system it could take a while.

So How do you perform the steps to begin your computer defragmentation? Well here are some of the steps that you can take to begin to process; one thing you want to remember is that it may take a couple hours for your system to become completely defragmented.

Go to start then to accessories and on that screen you will see something called system tools. When you click on this it will take you to the place that is going to be where you defrag your stystem.

(Max-Min) +10%. You need to insert the same figure for both Max and Min. This will fix the memory size and stop windows from expanding and shrinking it dynamically. You'll probably be required to restart before the changes will take effect.
