Confused On Shared Hosting

There are tons and tons of web hosting plans that provide shared hosting. Shared hosting is the most popular web hosting used. What is shared hosting? Shared hosting is simple as the name suggest. You can buy a bunch of different domains names and host them all under the same hosting service. You do have to add them to your hosting account, but this can be easily done by clicking a couple buttons.

Another thing you need to do is set up your DNS if you are buying a domain using a different service. Let say you are buying a domain at GoDaddy, well you can host your domain with another company like Hostgator. All you will need to do is go into your Hostgator account and copy and paste your DNS server information. Then you are going to go back to GoDaddy and use the DNS information that you copied and choose an option to host your site on a your own hosting. All you have to do now, is paste it and click OK.

Another things you can do with shared web hosting is add sub domains. Lets say you have website at www.myfirstdomain.com, well you can add in a sub domain. Here is an example www.dogs.and.cats.myfirstdomain.com. You see how you just added the words “dogs and cats” to the domain name. You can usually have as many sub domain as you would like. This is great if you are planning have a bunch of different material on your site that is not related. You don't have to keep buying domains and and paying for them.
