Congress Are Thinking About Introducing A Bcs Playoff System - Is It Necessary
Regardless of your feelings on this issue, there are members of Congress who would to legislate a playoff for college football. This would mean that they would literally take control of the BCS system and force a playoff. There is some criticisms of this type of thinking. The first is an issue of authority. Does Congress really have the authority to legislate sporting post season playoffs? One could study civics, precedent, and the Constitution for quite sometime and never come across the legal authority for Congress to get involved in a sport at this level. It could be the possibility that those in Congress thinking they can legislate this actually can not legally. The other criticism is one of practicality. Are there not more practical things that those in Congress could be spending their time on than sports? Really sports are just a form of entertainment. This has nothing to do with anything that is important in life. All the man hours used for a playoff system are being taken away for use on things that are more important. This is especially important with the many concerns there are today that are always more important than fun and entertainment. While there are those who wish to have a playoff system, it might not be the best idea for elected representatives to be the ones who are responsible for figuring out how this type of system would work.
