Copy Writing Mistakes To Avoid

I have found that many start-ups write to fill space and yes they talk a bit about what is important, but fail to get right down to business. Your copy and how you write, is everything to your business. Its either going to be engaging or its going to turn them away. Here are a few things you'll want to keep in mind when you sit and write for your site or blog.

It is important you know your target audience, and when you write, write to them. This is your audience, and your possible prospects. You pretty much have to bend over backwards to find out what it is they want and how to speak their language. If you need to, locate and start reading some of the threads in forums and find out directly from them all the info you could ever need. This research will go a long way in teaching you how to write for your audience.

Be sure you know that product or service inside and out. There is nothing more embarrassing than being corrected by a potential customer on something you should already know. That way when you write, you will have details and also possess the ability to write about the product as if you own it, and you benefit directly from it.

Another thing you'll want to give strong attention to is forgetting about the features, and tell your prospect exactly how they will benefit from the product or service. Steering them through the conversation and leading to ultimate end result. Whether it be a sign up for a freebie or to purchase, they have to have a clear understanding as to how they will benefit.

Selling the sizzle not the steak. Now having said that, it is important that you also monitor the general tone of your copy, as you don't want it to be over the top hypey copy, but you don't want it to fall flat on its face either. Think about it from your own personal experiences. What kind of sales page tends to get your attention and make you feel comfortable.
