Corporate And Private Uses And Benefits Of Voip Service

VOIP, short for Voice over Internet Protocol, is a set of rules that define how voice communications travel over the internet and other packet-switched networks. Commercially launched in 1995, VoIP has made communications cheap and easy and has introduced a number of eases both for corporate and personal use. VoIP service providers offer an assortment of services, which were assumed to be unachievable in the times of landline phones.

The prerequisites of VOIP Service are good servers, routers, high speed digital service, a structured wiring environment, a high speed network within the enterprise, and VoIP telephones; although VoIP systems normally offer support for traditional analogue telephones and fax machines.

The first and basic reason why people prefer VOIP Service over other communication technologies is its low price. People always used to avoid making calls to their family/friends in far off places due to the reason that landline phones used to cost too much on these long distance calls. With VoIP, these distances have shortened due to the economical calls that can be done through VoIP. Now, people freely talk to their friends or family members, without worrying about how much these call will cost them.

Not only for personal use, but companies also take advantage of this economical price plan of VoIP and save lots of revenue due to this service, as making phone calls and staying connected is a necessity in any kind of a business. For firms, VoIP offers lower cost than other traditional services like the local or international calls or even the internet. This is because once the infrastructure, which consists of servers, routers and digital facilities, has been put in place, the cost to provide the switching and telephone call transport is minimal as compared to the old analogue systems. When the existing PBX of a country is replaced by VOIP Service, their total costs should be much lower than before. If VoIP replaces the central office of a telephone company, their profit margin can increase.

VOIP Service acts as a bridge not only in making this world a global village and connecting people from around the world for personal communications, but also has abridged different companies in order to provide ease in co-ordination. Even if it is a huge company, with offices at different locations, VoIP makes them feel like they are communicating in the same meeting room. This makes the management of the company comparatively easier, as it bridges the gap between different departments; now they can easily communicate on a cheaper and better quality service.

However, as the upfront investment may be relatively high, upgrading to VoIP appeals most to the companies who are already committed to an investment as a result of moving their location, or are changing their entire network.

Traditional landline networks are difficult to upgrade as compared to a VoIP system. It can be easily expanded according to the needs of the organization. Unlike traditional phones, VoIP provides various communication features like video chat, video conference, desktop sharing, etc. Overall, there is a lot of room for additions in these features in case of VOIP Service, which is almost impossible when it comes to traditional landline phones.
