This has always been the way in that as social trends come around they bring with them a flurry of interest in the topic. However with these it's often a fleeting interest.

However, probably the most likely reason is that hunting equipment providers have simply been late getting on the internet bandwagon. However, this avenue offers great potential for hunting equipment providers. Firstly you have to consider the availability and manufacturers of such equipment. Many items that these sites sell are generally produced for the home nation and most commonly countries such as America where hunting has been a popular pastime for years. As such, making it available internationally by order of a website opens up a great deal of potential sales for stockists as there is less foreign competition to contend with.

Secondly you can consider the expansive area which these sites can cover. While these sites may prioritise for hunting equipment specifically, they can also easily provide for various tied in subjects. While some of the hunting equipment may not be legal within certain countries, bushcraft and camping equipment is far more likely to be popular everywhere. Resultantly sites that develop a good reputation for their hunting equipment also get a good name for tents, sleeping bags, etc.

As a result these hunting and survival bushcraft websites have seen a rapid growth in trade and popularity. With many already well established chains, the transition onto the internet was an easy and effective move. By providing specialty equipment like crossbows which are hard to come by these sites can genuinely make a killing.

It looks like these sites will remain popular and established for some time to come.
