Create Illusion Of Granite Slab Worktops With Granite Tiles

Are you smitten by the beauty of granite stone? I am sure; you'll be as these tiles are truly exclusive. You can't afford to ignore them. These tiles are an affordable choice for kitchen worktops. Usually, people think of granite slabs but they cost heavy on the pocket. In such a situation, you can buy granite tiles. However, you need to install them with perfection to take full advantage of their beauty and grandeur.

You can use the given below tips for installation of the granite worktops.

The initial step is similar to regular tile installation. Clean the surface perfectly. Remove the old tiles thoroughly. There shouldn't be a single piece of grit or dust on it. You can also use a plywood layer and install the tiles on top of it. However, the key concept is that the base should be free from unevenness.
Apply a hardibacker on the surface of the plywood. It acts as the granite tile under-layment. Measure the surface with a scale and try to calculate how to place the granite tiles on the plywood.
Now, select an appropriate tile adhesive. There's a large difference in granite tile adhesive and ceramic tile adhesive. You should use a thin-set mortar that is specifically prepared for the natural stone. Use a notched towel and apply the adhesive on the tile surface. You can also sketch an outline of the layout to get an idea that the granite tiles are pasted on the surface perfectly.
If you want a look that is similar to granite slab, then you should place the tiles neck to neck. You can keep a minimum spacing of 1/8” or less.
Now, leave the surface untouched for 24 hours. Grout the tiles next day. Choose a color that is closest to the tile color. This would help reduce gap between the tiles and create illusion of the granite slab.
After grout application, wipe the tile to remove the excess grout. You can also use grout sealer to improve the appearance of the overall layout.

So, use this tricky method to install granite worktops by purchasing granite tiles at affordable price.
