Creating Ongoing Success With Facilitative Leadership

A hot network marketing topic is always leadership and what style is best. I think the best is the most overlooked style: Facilitative leadership.
Facilitative leadership is all about providing a vision and direction for a group to take, then standing clear and letting the group members lead themselves to allow them to grow. They help their followers to create connections and come up with new ideas. They guide their team toward useful solutions and make sure they are supported when needed.
In a home based or network marketing business if you are coaching a team and assisting them in their own business goals, you want your team to take on the leadership role themselves. You want to empower them make decisions for themselves because it is for THEIR business. One easy test of your leadership is to ask yourself are people looking to you for approval before they make a decision. If so you are not leading them to success. You should be there to help guide them in the best direction, but allow them to take charge of their own business.
The worst mistake you can make is to decide that you being a leader makes your team members followers. They try to shoehorn their team into the processes, marketing, and even ways of talking that have worked for them. Trying to copy someone else will keep your team from ever achieving success.
So how can you rein it in? It can be really tempting to create a formula and tell your team to follow it. But success does not come from what you do, but how you do it. When you are confident and loving what you're doing, seeing yourself as a leader people will feel that and want to join your team. If your team tries to copy you they will never get the opportunity to build confidence in themselves, they will be to busy staying in follower mode.
You must get your followers to become leaders right at the start, and the best way to do this is facilitative leadership. Here's how to start facilitating their leadership:
-Show them what options they have and then let them go out and learn whatever they can. Let them know what you chose to do, but assist them in picking the right option for them.
-Ask them questions about what they are interested in, what appeals to them. LISTEN and let them talk it through themselves. Hold them to a high standard and don't let them engage in limiting talk or excuses.
-Hold team trainings and let the team do the talking! You'll want to deliver a topic to discuss and again point them in the right direction, but allow them to share their feelings and insights with each other.

Don't expect them to be you! Expect leadership from them and encourage them to building upon their strengths and make their own choices. You will see incredible results and with each person that you assist in becoming a successful leader your belief in yourself, in your business, and in the rest of your team will become stronger and stronger. As with just about everything in this world, by truly assisting others, you will really be assisting yourself.
