Matching Colors: A Science that is Well Developed to Help
Ever since we picked up our first box of crayons we have desired to match, mix, and create – It is no different when you have fabric, furniture, and room color choices. The desire to coordinate is known throughout any art or design school and is taught at a basic level using a color wheel. This wheel was designed to fit all colors into a solid circle to express similarities and differences. The colors right next to each other are called analogous colors, and offer slight similarities for color patterns, and those opposite offer the most contrast and pop. As a first step into the designing realm for yourself, I recommend that you defiantly read up on the color coordination material that is on the internet or any good book, as it will really help your style.
An Addition that can make a Big Difference
As you are building and tweaking your dollhouse you will discover some great time saving secrets. In my last dollhouse building adventure I came across something that I know helped out my interior look tremendously. I discovered the importance of having trim around your floor. Floor Trim is not a new creation, but what I found is instead of buying it, to use a very thin balsa wood found in most craft stores. Simply paint it the color of your dollhouse and attach it to the foot of your walls. What I found is that they covered up the tiny bumps between the walls and the flooring. Another great thing about the trim is that it covers the edges of the wallpaper and prevents fraying. It was a little addition that was fun to install and really added to the look of my dollhouse.
Dollhouse Flooring Options
Flooring is a very interesting topic because no one really thinks to change it, and yet those that do always turn out more amazing than before. Undoubtedly Flooring is the foundation of your dollhouse, and as such is the foundation for all of your design choices. Not only that, it adds a very distinct touch that will take your dollhouse and move it to the next level. Carpet, linoleum, tile, stone, and hard wood are the most popular choices in flooring options. The most popular choice is carpet, probably because we enjoy carpet so much in our houses. Linoleum and tile are basically the same for your kit in application, they are simply different designs. Adding Stone for your deck, hardwood for your living room will add a fun touch - look around and find the best option
