Credit Card Planning Now To Avoid Credit Counseling Later
It seems that everyone these days either wants or already uses credit cards. And sadly, as it stands, it appears that even the relatively young are now popularly using plastic cards, easing their way into the adult world - using credit to make purchases both big and small. And in a way, it makes sense that they're doing so. Modern life now progresses in stages, each requiring it's specific type of financial action or two along the way. As such, within these sequential stages comes the requirement for various financial tools -investments, student loans, mortgages, etc- as well as the need for specific credit card uses.
Credit For The Young and The Old
Currently credit card companies are extending their reach to not just the established, but also the yet to be established audiences. From teens to young adults to the elderly, if they don't possess them already, all are offered to have credit cards, each of which is individually known for catering to their specific situations based on particular demographics and positions in life.
The focus now, at least in the world of credit, is directed toward those who are completely new to it – those who are going to college or are just out of college. Namely, teens and young adults.
Teenagers and College Students: Plastic Spending 101
Typically, starting in the span of young teenage years and between years spend at college, younger or “not quite yet adult” individuals are given the option to possess the freedom to get their credit hands experienced, and even a bit dirty. Now, a few years ago this was looked upon with scornful sets of eyes; credit card companies would target these young individuals and actually get castigated for their attempts to -as current credit outsiders saw it- 'corrupt' these to-be credit newbies. But, today, that notion of corruption has turned into a suggestion, namely to initiate financial betterment, to partake in future financial planning from a young age.
Providing credit card possibilities to younger adults is now looked upon as a necessary action, to both provide the essential financial knowledge and monitoring skills needed to live successfully down the line. Yet, with this new trend of responsibility, there's an air of caution that comes attached. Especially for individuals starting out after college it is all too important not to get those credit card hands too dirty.
Learning and Using Credit Cards Responsibly, Kids
Keeping with the offer of financial leeway and personal finance responsibility, young adults must not go overboard with their plastic spending. Especially for those who are close to entering college or are already in college – these individuals (usually) can't afford to go over the given credit limit as it is.
Now, consider young adults who are in their post-college stage of life - most will be quickly scooped up into a young professional status and in the process gain the profit of a substantial salary, one they're quite unfamiliar and excited with. This in mind, it's essential for these young professionals to not take such earnings and abuse or waste them through constant credit card actions.
The point with having credit cards so young is to establish good credit for future financial motions such as car and mortgage loans. No matter how hard it might be, avoid making massive purchases to satisfy material desires – too many of these could easily place a young professional in a deep credit card debt situation, which is just exactly where they don't want to be right out of college.
Do this responsible credit course of action as a young individual and you can bypass the dreaded future of going through credit counseling to correct the mistakes you've made.
