Credit Crunch An Early Christmas Gift

There is a financial crunch worldwide, and everyone has got to tighten their belts. But with Christmas round the corner there is no way of telling the kids that they may not be getting presents this year, especially if a new bicycle or some other special Christmas Gift has been promised to a child. Christmas is going to come, and has to be celebrated - credit crunch or no credit crunch. The solution to this is to shop smart by first working out how much the budget to be spent at Christmas is. If its £500 or less, then start making a list of what is absolutely necessary to get for Christmas. If the house decorations, Christmas tree lights, and Santa Claus figurines are stored away from over the years then take them out and check them. If something is broken or damaged then see if it can be repaired. Don’t just throw it away and go shopping for a new one. There are certain Christmas items that one cannot avoid. These include the Christmas tree, decorations, stockings, goose, wine and Christmas Gifts for the family. Start with the family, and if any Christmas gift promises have been made then start checking out the prices for that item. With the internet, online shopping facilitates shopping from anywhere so it would be a good idea to check out prices on the internet and one can get some real good deals on the net.

A family man or woman has to get Christmas gifts for the family so a good idea would be for the husband and wife to get together and discuss the Christmas gifts to get for the children, relatives and close friends. Only send or give gifts to those that matter, and not to everyone. Remember there is a cash crunch on, and a budget has to be maintained and not over stepped. For the spouse and children, get them what they have their heart set on (or are expecting) for Christmas. If the cost of the Christmas gifts is exceeding the budget and if they are old enough, try explaining that they will need to think of an alternate gift. For relatives and friends, gift hampers can be sent to the near and dear ones and flowers or chocolates to the not so near and dear ones. The rest can be sent Christmas cards. Look for deals on gift hampers and select those that are not too costly.

Christmas decorations don’t have to be extravagant, and external decorations can be avoided. Save on the energy costs also by not lighting up the outside of the house, or by just lighting up the entrance.

Christmas gift deals can be found at a number of stores in the UK; Marks & Spencer's being an all-time favourite. Ushopsafe.co.uk is another good online store for Christmas gifts shopping, as is somucheasier.co.uk. So rather then walking around with the list of things to be bought for Christmas, spend time surfing the net and looking at what offers there are online. Buying early, before the Christmas fever catches on, would be wise. So look around, compare prices, then shop. Not getting caught in the credit crunch can be done by shopping wisely. Merry Christmas!
