Cruise Vacations - Tips For Planning A Safe Cruise For Your Family

A cruise is one of the safest places for any person to take a vacation - especially to the South Pacific; how else are you going to get around to view the islands of Tahiti or Fiji while enjoying all the extras?

With that said, there's still the possibility for things to happen on any vacation, even within the secure walls of a South Pacific cruise liner. No one chooses to be the victim in any situation, even with every day accidents, so with a little forethought and preparation you can make your vacation cruise a lot more fun.

Before Leaving Home for your Cruise

Make a number of copies for yourself of your important documents. This includes

· Driver's license

· Passport

· Credit Cards & other wallet contents

· Travel documents (including plane tickets)

· Numbers to report anything lost or stolen.

Keep one set of your copies at home, take another set with you on the ship and pack them separately from the originals. Should you ever need to refer to any of your documents without the originals handy, your copies can serve in the interim until the originals are restored, located, etc.

Packing Luggage

If you can, work with plain looking luggage that's less "assuming" when you set up for your island cruise. While you pack, take some pictures of the contents and keep a list of the items you've packed for your trip. Pack your essential or important items in a carry on when you're ready to travel so that you're not checking luggage with things like prescriptions, glasses, money or other valuables. Make sure your bags close securely (and stay that way) when you're getting ready for your trip.

In the Cabin on the Australian Cruise Ship

Do a complete inspection of your cabin to take note of where everything is. Keep in mind that locks don't always work, so when you're unpacking and setting up your stateroom you should avoid leaving out any valuables. Use the safe in your cabin or the purser's safe to secure important goods. If you leave, check that your goods are secured and put away and protect your cabin key.

On The Ship

If you're traveling with friend and/or family, make sure to keep tabs on everyone and talk about the plans that everyone has. While it's fairly unlikely that something can occur on the ship, there's great peace of mind in knowing the location of everyone within your travel group. Likewise if you're hanging onto anything valuable, like a purse or travel wallet, be mindful of setting it down.

The captain and crew of every cruise liner go to great lengths to ensure that the passengers are safe during their vacation. They can only do so much however so you have to put forth an effort to protect yourself, your family and your personal belongings. By taking a few extra steps in your own safety and the control of your possessions you'll have immeasurable peace of mind to help you truly enjoy your vacation in the South Pacific.
