Cuba Flights From Argentina To Increase During 2012
The island of Cuba is already prepared to receive more Argentineans in 2012 than in 2011 when citizens from the “land of the Tango” overflowed Cuba holiday destinations. Last year around 75 000 visitors from Argentina arrived to the Caribbean nation increasing by 30.1 per cent compared to 2010’s figures. During the current year, leading experts of the industry have forecasted a leap in the number of Argentineans up to 87 000 visitors. This will be caused by two main factors, the departure of new Cuba flights from Buenos Aires to Santa Clara, Holguin and Cayo Coco, in the Jardines del Rey archipelago and the fact that the 30th edition of Cuba’s International Tourism Fair (FitCuba) will be dedicated to Argentina. Contrastingly with other Latin American holidaymakers travelling to the island, Argentineans seem interested in sun and sand Cuba holidays rather than in other especial interest activities such as health treatments, eco trails and cultural tours. These South Americans are very fond of destinations in the island like Cayo Coco, Cayo Guillermo, Cayo Largo and Holguin as well as Cayo Santa Maria, all them places of stunning beauty due to their finest beaches and resorts. Although it has a lengthy Atlantic coast in the north, the province has no southern seaboard and borders on the province of Cienfuegos. The wide plain of Villa Clara is an extension of that in the province of Matanzas but the soil is not so fertile. Sugar is the main crop and tobacco is grown on the more sandy soil, to the south of the province in which the Escambray Mountains are located. There, lies Hanabanilla Lake, an intra-mountainous reservoir good for fishing and hunting. But nothing says Villa Clara quite like the character of Argentinean-Cuban Che Guevara whose memory has been printed in Santa Clara’s streets. Every year thousands of visitors go to Che Guevara’s Square and memorial located in the very centre of this capital city. New flights from Argentina are expecting to increase traffic in Santa Clara’s airport by 6 000 visitors up to May 2012.
