Cure For Emphysema

More and more people now a days are suffering of emphysema, the disease that is caused to the lungs due to destruction caused to the tissues necessary to support the physical shape and function of small sacs of the lungs which help in the process of inhalation and exhalation, especially exhalation since the person would be in a position to release carbon dioxide as would not be able to get enough oxygen.

Due to the raise of the patients suffering from emphysema increasing, the concern of curing them has increased world wide. But cure of emphysema has become more and more complex with pharmacists across the globe unable to get the right combination and composition to cure the deadly disease which slowly but surely gives the most of the discomfort to the patient and ultimately kills the person. The reason being giving the strength to the supporting tissues which actually give the right strength to the lungs and its small sacs, the right ability to be do the function of inhalation and exhalation effectively.

Emphysema whose diagnosis is usually confirmed by pulmonary function testing like spirometry can also be identified through a X-ray radiology. A DLCO test may be used to differentiate emphysema from the remaining types of obstructive disorders such as chronic bronchitis and asthma. DLCO is a test that also measures the ability of gases to diffuse across the alveolar-capillary membrane. This is because this is a disease that is also caused due to someone getting exposed to a lot of air pollution. It is because DLCO decreases in emphysema whereas it would be normal or will increase in asthma and chronic bronchitis.

Cure for emphysema is only done by supporting breathing with anticholiergics, bronchodilators, steroid medication (inhaled or oral), effective body positioning (high fowlers), and by providing supplemental oxygen as required by providing various artificial means. Treatment is also done otherwise by treating gastric reflux and allergies which may improve lung function. All the treatments mentioned above only would be giving temporary relief to the patient as the permanent and the right best solution would be the surgery to the required tissue. Surgeries would be done at various levels starting from minimal to the maximum effect. Find below in the next paragraph some of the surgical procedures involved.

Lung volume reduction surgery (LVRS) can give relief to some of the selected patients at various levels. In July 2006 a new treatment, where tiny valves are placed in passages leading to the diseased lung areas which was more a success with only 7% suffering partial lung collapse. The last and the best one suggested surgically would be lung transplantation, but one need to be physically strong to undergo this. Above all the side effects to various other organs like kidney and lever would be the major concern.

One more last resent to the disease of emphysema has been with the evolution of herbal medicines in the form of pills which is considered to be the most natural way of treating the disease effectively. But it is always advisable to follow the principal of rather than looking for the cure for emphysema, better quit smoking and keep away from air pollution as far and possible.
