Curling Iron For Waves

Want to create beautiful, lush waves but your hair is too straight? This isn’t impossible if you have a curling iron. But how to create nice loose waves and not curls? Follow these easy steps and enjoy your own sexy, waves.

• Wash your hair, towel dry and comb the tangles out. Prepping your hair is important, especially if it’s straight. To add more volume, flip your head upside down and spray your roots with volumizing or texturizing spray. Massage it in to create more body. If your hair is curly or course, work in a straightening balm to control and tame the curls. Don’t forget to use thermal protectant! This is necessary to protect the hair from the heat of the curling iron.

• Blow dry your hair straight, starting at the roots for extra volume. Your hair needs to be dry in order to create perfect waves. Finish off the blowout with cold air to lock in the style and boost texture.

• Divide your hair into sections, and pin them up, leaving one section loose to work on.

• Now you’re ready to make some waves. You can use a wide barrel curling iron (1.5 inches) but it’s easier to use a clipless curling iron like the Karmin Salon Pro Clipless Curling Iron, which is simple to maneuver and its polished barrel provides shine and definition to curls and waves. Also, you gain better access to your roots with a clipless model with a tighter curl at the ends.

• Apply some texturizing spray to your chosen section of hair and take a 1 inch portion to wrap around the barrel of your curling iron. The wrapping method is much more effective than the clipping one because you can avoid crease marks and make your waves look more natural. Release the curl after 10-15 seconds and you should have a tight curl.

• Give the curl a light application of holding spray and pin it up close to the scalp.

• Change the direction of the curls as you work your way around, this will make them look more natural and spontaneous. You can also alternate the type of curl, creating loose ones and tight ones, pinning them up as you go along.

• Once the curls have cooled down you can bring them down from your scalp.

• With your blow dryer (nozzle removed), gently loosen the waves using the cool shot button. You can also separate the curls with your fingers, tousling them gently without brushing them out. Apply some shine serum and set with a finishing spray.
