Cushion Cut Engagement Ring Setting
It is said that diamonds symbolizes endurance and eternal love aside from that diamonds are known to be the hardest stone not only in those time but also in this era. Cushion was popular in 1800 and 1900 but then it's popularity decline when electricity was discovered and the round cut was introduce. But its fame and popularity returned after jewelers made some adjustments with the cushion cut up to this day cushion cut are popular among engagement rings. Although there are modern cut engagement rings that are popular today there are still some people who prefers cushion cut with their engagement ring. However cushion cut rings are rare to find these days and if ever you find one expect an expensive price. You can find variety of engagement rings out in the market they differ in their, cut, designs and settings. Here are some of the settings that are used in rings. Bar settings This type of settings is a much modern adaptation of prong settings. While the prong are separated with the bar setting the prongs are fused together to create a long bar this type of setting allows the diamond to show its brilliance but at the same time it highlights the metal bar setting. Flush setting In this setting a hole must be made on the band for the diamonds or stone to set in while the surrounding metal will be pressed against the side but not on top or over the stone. If the setting is done properly the stone should stay in place however if this setting is not done properly the stone would come loose on the band and fall of it. Bezel setting This type of settings is for round shaped diamonds or stones. It is a band of metals that is formed in a circular manner around the diamond or round stone and is pressed on top just around the edges of the stone. It is said that this type of setting is one of the strongest for it protects the stones from damage it also creates and illusion for it makes small diamonds look larger. Pave setting This kind of setting is usually used with numerous small stones or diamonds that are set in depressions in the bands. Its takes time and effort when you do this kind of setting it also needs patient for you would go under a painstaking procedure just to cover the surface of the entire band. Because of this difficult procedure and the number of stone needed in this kind of setting makes it expensive. Prong setting This is a classic style setting and is usually used for solitaire diamonds this kind of setting are also used in cushion cut diamonds. In this setting the stone is set in between 3, 4 or 6 prongs. With this setting most diamonds are exposed which allows the light to pass through it you would also have an easy time cleaning the stone. However this setting is for larger diamonds or stones but this setting can also be fragile for it easily gets snug on clothing.
