Cycle, Ride Or Walk In The Heart Of The Chilterns

To celebrate the launch of the leaflet, local residents, members of the Thames Cycling Group, councillors and staff involved in the project held a Summer solstice bike ride. They cycled from Chinnor to Princes Risborough, following the Ridgeway, quiet country lanes and the Phoenix Trail.
The new leaflet contains a large map showing all the rural roads, lanes and bridleways in this part of the Chilterns. The roads and lanes are colour-coded to indicate how many cars use them every day, so that walkers, cyclists and horse riders can plan routes to avoid busy traffic. There is also lots of information on attractions in the area, where to eat and drink, cycle repair shops and promoted walking and cycling routes.
Val Letheren, Buckinghamshire County Council cabinet member for Transport said:

"The County Council is working hard to address issues such as traffic congestion and air pollution by encouraging alternatives to the car, such as cycling and walking for local journeys. Working in partnership with the Chilterns Conservation Board this new ‘Cycle Ride or Walk’ leaflet for the Wycombe area is just one measure, which we hope will encourage more local people to consider sustainable alternatives to the car. It also has other benefits such as improving everyone's health."
Copies of the leaflet are available from local information centres, libraries and the Conservation Board.
