Data Destruction Tools

It is important that confidential data destruction is taken seriously. The world is constantly adapting and changing. The old fashioned pen and paper method is slowly diminishing. You will often see computers and other technology in many businesses nowadays. However it doesn't matter what is used to store information, what matters is that this information is destroyed of appropriately.

Data Destruction Tools

Some businesses may store huge amounts of confidential information and some will store small amounts. Whether it's a small or large amount of data, all confidential information needs to be destroyed accordingly. There are many different data destruction tools and methods which can be used to destroy sensitive data. This data could be people's addresses or bank details. The methods and tools used to remove data, all comes down to the type of information being disposed of.

Data destruction is one very secure technique. This is where information is physically destroyed using melting, crushing, shredding and drilling tools. One disadvantage of this technique however, is that computers and storage mediums will be physically destroyed beyond use, which therefore means the equipment can't be re-used. Data sanitization is another technique commonly used, in which data is removed from storage devices such as floppy discs and hard drives. Data overwriting is where the same information is written everywhere within the storage medium, this will make the data unreadable. However the overwritten information can often be retrieved by those who know how, which makes this a weaker technique.

On-site Data Destruction

On-site data destruction and degaussing services are offered by data removal businesses. This means the data does not have to be driven off site to another depot. This offers companies the choice to watch exactly what happens to their sensitive and confidential data during the destruction process. This helps with piece of mind as it offers companies the chance to see exactly what is happening to their confidential data and that this information is not being passed onto anyone who shouldn't have the data.
