His boyfriends were fashion designer Andy Warhol and writer William Barroso. 1992 saw his second marriage with model Iman Abdulmajid. A couple have a daughter Lexi and make home in London.

In 2000 David Bowie was ranked as the most glamorous star of the 20th century, leaving Mick Jagger and Noel Gallagher far behind, by the Sun newspaper.
