Dealing With Poorly Written Online Content

Help! Someone has sold me poorly written work. What should I do?

Hiring a freelance writing services company for the first time can be a bit of a crap shoot. You’re hoping that you’ll get a project delivered that will have few (if any) problems or rewrites required and you’re probably hoping you’ve found a writer you can work with in the future for a long and prosperous relationship.

Where did I go wrong?

Chances are that you’ve done what you believed to be your due diligence in trying to select a professional website content writer who is experienced and appears to do their job well but when you get the resulting work from them and it isn’t what you were hoping for, it can feel like a real let-down.

If you’ve read samples and Googled the writer and all the dialogue shared between you seemed like you were both on the same page, chances are you’re either not a good match or the writer simply wasn’t experienced or talented enough to deliver what you wanted. Sometimes it’s easy to see who will be perfect for a job and you’ll find the right person the first time around but at times, finding the perfect outsourcing professionals takes a bit of trial and error.

Various things might be wrong with the piece of written work. It could have spelling or grammatical errors. It could be that it lacks flow or just does not meet the directions of the brief you sent to the writer. Or, it could have failed a plagiarism check. It becomes perplexing and frustrating fast.

What should you do when writing work you’ve bought turns out to be junk?

You need to decide whether or not you want the freelance writer to redo the work. If you send it back, it may or may not be corrected to your standards the second time around. If you’ve bought from a writing services company instead of a freelance writing individual, you have a good chance of having it handled better the second time around because the writing company will likely have a more senior person take a second look. If you find that the person you hired just isn’t suitably talented or conscientious enough, you might look for a second option and a new copywriter altogether. Here's where for example you might start to look for a UK ghostwriter or international ghostwriter to fit your needs.

Sadly, you may have already spent money or spent a considerable amount of time waiting on what you had hoped would be perfect for your project. When you have to shop around for a new writing company the second time around, you’ll be all the more able to spot a pro and hopefully your search for the perfect professional writing company will be over and a productive relationship can begin.
