Coming up with a logo for your company is not an easy task, but it is one essential task that any company owner should accomplish. Logo design largely depends on the nature of your company and the kind of market you have. Your logo should be carefully designed. Wrong logos have costsome companies millions of dollars.

There are five principles involved when designing logos. Logos should be:

• Appropriate
• Versatile
• Timeless

These principles seem to make the job harder, but seasoned artists can come up with a good design in a short time. Logos have to be simple for consumers to easily understand. A logo can only be memorable if it is unique. If it looks like something else, it would recede from one’s memory fast. A memorable logo can become timeless. Moreover, logos should look right based on the image a company wants to portray and the type of consumers they have.

Some companies today have involved social media in logo design decisions. For instance, some ask artists to create logos for them and go through online voting process to come up with a suitable logo based on majority votes. This is particularly helpful, as people today want to be involved. This will also create consumer buzz. If they talk about your brand on the internet, that’s a good thing. All right, not all company owners wish to go through the same process. That is why other options are presented.

1. Look for top logo artists. There are top designers in the industry, and going after them should be your best decision. These people have spent years making logos and insignia, so they most likely would be able to create the right logo. Chances of satisfaction would be high. Where can you find them? Top logo creators usually have websites. March on these sites and see their works. Put in mind that as they are experts in their fields, their talent fees would go up the scale too. Small business owners and starters may be on a tough budget to include expensive logo creation.

2. Obtain services of a newbie. Fresh Art graduates would be willing to put their skills to test for your advantage. Their talent fee would not be that high, but you may just be surprised at the outcome. Check out their portfolio and ask them to do a few logo samples for your company. Of course, you should agree on reasonable fees.

3. Test your artistry. You probably are an artist on your own right. So why not spend a day creating sample logos and asking your workers to pick their choice. This sounds funny, but many business owners have a huge participation in the making of their logos. You have greater freedom in deciding on designs that you feel are appropriate. Then you can have an artist polish the work.Or if you are satisfied, you can register the logo at the trademark office and then use it for brand identification.

Never undermine the importance of your logo. Regardless of the size of your business, your logo is your identity.
